Values Education
Beaufort Secondary College is one of four schools in the Beaufort and District Cluster (known as the Connect Four Cluster). We work closely with the staff and students from Beaufort Primary School, Buangor Primary School and Trawalla Primary School.
As a part of our Values Education program the four schools have adopted eight values to focus on in the school environment. Values are what we consider important, care about and believe in.
The teaching of values helps to shape character by creating a positive and empowering culture in which students can learn and develop, and encourages them to make a difference and have an impact on the world around them.
Students, parents and teachers all voted for the values that they believed were most relevant in their school communities. These values are:
CARING – giving love and attention to people and things.
CONSIDERATION – being thoughtful about other people and their feelings.
CO-OPERATION – working together for the good of everyone.
FRIENDLINESS – taking an interest in people and going out of your way to make others feel welcome.
FAIRNESS – treating people equally and not showing favouritism.
LOYALTY – staying true to people.
TOLERANCE – respecting differences and not expecting others to think, look, speak or act just like you.
TRUTHFULNESS – always being honest in your words and actions.
The Connect Four Cluster has posters and banners displayed in each
school to remind all members of the school community about the
importance of the values.
It is hoped that the adoption of these core Cluster values will serve as a
focus for the schools in the future.
The matching of these values with the values of the local community is
also very important. To have four schools work so effectively together
on this project has been fantastic. The shared values between the four
schools will also make the transition from Primary to Secondary school
much easier for students.
